With the help of the Australian Horse Adventures team, you will build a special partnership with your horse and experience true joy and relaxation on the trails.
Australian Horse Adventures is owned and operated by a Tasmanian couple that is both professional and passionate about horsemanship in theory and practice. We love what we do and this shines through on every tour.
Australian Horse Adventures’ focus on natural horsemanship, horse welfare and adventure delivers you a holiday, with a horse… not just on a horse’s back.
We take care of everything for you. You don't have to worry about a thing. Your accommodation, food, beverages and transport are all sorted.
Guests safety is our priority.
Our horses are our most outstanding asset. The team is well-trained, soft and responsive and well cared for.
The tours are all about having fun and giving guests the best holiday imaginable.
Our tours are experiential: You get an understanding of our horsemanship training before you jump in the saddle and our guides are always there to help you with riding tips and assistance to ensure that you build a true connection with your horse. This will give you confidence and ensure the safest and most relaxing holiday.
Australian Horse Adventure are ridden barefoot and bitless and we share the why and how of our training with you.
Our guides are the best. They are passionate horse lovers, educated interpreters and fantastic hosts all rolled into one. Feedback regarding our guides is always exceptional.
We are committed the environment, the land and animals we care for and the communities we partner with. We are constantly working, learning and investing in the future of horsemanship, our beautiful property Junction Farm and sharing the best of beautiful Tasmania.
Our horses are cared for to the highest standard and we are uncompromising when it comes to their welfare. The horses’ care and your safety will always come first.
At our base Junction Farm, with 900ha of farmland and native bush and more than 10km of river frontage, we have 200ha of pasture under a Carbon Farming initiative, actively capturing carbon and improving soil and animal health. More than 600ha of our bushland is protected and managed and is being actively restored. Our current project includes planting 80,000 new native trees on our hill sides. Our irrigation and farm power is 100% solar powered and our waterways are fenced and protected from stock and runoff.
We partner with local and regional land holders, producers and hospitality providers. You will not only get the best of the best, you will know you are supporting the communities you ride in.
We are entrusted by Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife to offer unique riding trails in national park areas and on the fringe of world heritage areas.
Food and wine are all part of the tour experience and will be a big highlight of your trip. Delicious, healthy meals showcasing local produce delivered to you as part of your accommodation package. We believe you should find it easy to wind down, relax and enjoy a super meal and comfy bed after a day in the saddle.
We try to deliver our tours with the most generous hospitality and in five star style. We present an opportunity for you to connect with the natural environment on horseback, which is truly a unique and special experience. We want you to fall in love with us, our horses and the places we ride.
Beautiful Ruby has been part of Marcus and Eleanor’s family for nearly twenty years. Her gleaming coat and long legs make her look like a spring chicken, but she is actually a worldly wise working stock horse, hunt horse and family pony. Bred in Tasmania, Anglo Arabian Ruby is a granddaughter of 1970 Caulfield Cup winner Beer Street. She has an awesome walk and big, smooth extended trot.
Frank is the King of the Austrian Horse Adventures team. Standing at just 14.2 hands, he uses his charm and dignity to rule the masses. Happiest leading the pack or keeping an eye on everyone from behind, Frank is a pocket rocket who likes a self-confident rider.
Introduced to the Australian Horse Adventures team by Marcus and Eleanor in 2021, Australian Waler Cross Duchess is becoming a favourite with guests. Steady and sensible, Duchess is happy to go quietly at the back of the group, taking care of beginner riders. Don’t be fooled by her quiet nature though - this big girl can fly with the right jockey on board.
Aka “Moo Moo” her gangster name- she is a real lady and has a real passion for food. She will hold her curves no matter the occasion. As a riding mount, she aims to please. She is super sensitive and will move from your thoughts. She comes from a long line of endurance champions and will go all day as long as there is time to refuel.
This tiny pure bred Arab is a special treat for diminutive guests. Peeping from under her thick forelock, Ivy’s cheeky expression says it all. She loves to hit the trail with her buddies each day and will reward a trusting rider with her fabulous relaxed, ground covering paces. She is happy to cruise in the middle of the group all day long.
This Arabian cross mare knows a lot about human beings and the world in general. While she can be cynical, she is always wise and above all, safe. If you are a little nervous about trekking around the countryside on the back of a horse, surefooted and sensible Amber is the one to take care of you.ph
If the name gets you thinking of small bottles of delicious bubbles or that sweet melody from a little flute, you’re also spot on summing up this horse. So sweet, so pretty and loves to be at the party as the conduit for a magical and memorable experience.
This sweet little Arabian mare will make you want to pack her in your suitcase and take her home. She is an obliging and gentle character who always tries to please. Her genuine nature is a mirror to her rider’s soul, ready to give back every bit of love and consideration that her rider puts into the relationship.
New to the team in 2022, Elkie is another beautiful young horse, ready to have fun and enjoy wonderful rides with you! Not too tall and strongly built, Elkie is a Morgan cross. Her inclination is to be slow and steady but she is athletic enough to run and jump with the Arabians whenever the occasion demands.
Neo, a Fresian X sees himself more as Nero, than just Neo, an emperor with an ego as big as his belly .
Marcus and Neo have a unique relationship, or what some describe as a "Mutual Appreciation Society " that brings out the best in this naturally trained black beauty.
While you are unlikely to be riding him, you will see him, guiding the way, and no doubt, wonder why you aren't riding him....that is until you do.
